A suspect was taken into custody in a Flatbush DUI arrest after an alert Shmira Public Safety volunteer observed a vehicle driving dangerously near Kings Highway and Ocean Parkway.
The volunteer was on routine patrol when they noticed the vehicle swerving erratically across the roadway, nearly striking several surrounding cars and pedestrians. Recognizing the immediate risk to public safety, the patrolling member requested additional Shmira units to assist in safely following the vehicle at a distance while maintaining visual contact.
A Shmira dispatcher promptly contacted emergency services via 911 to report the hazardous driver and convey real-time location details. Officers from the NYPD 61st Precinct arrived on scene shortly after the call.
NYPD officers pulled over the vehicle and arrested the suspect for driving under the influence.
