A wanted Brooklyn burglary suspect was taken into custody after an intensive investigation by Shmira Public Safety and the New York City Police Department. Suspect Johnny Perez, wanted in connection with multiple burglaries across Brooklyn South, was apprehended by the NYPD 66th Precinct Conditions Team.
Perez was actively sought by officers from three separate commands, including the NYPD 66th, 70th, and 61st Precincts. Shmira’s advanced CCTV and Investigation Team successfully tracked his location following extensive surveillance efforts.
This incident marks the fourth time Shmira volunteers have aided in locating Perez. He was previously apprehended in connection with multiple burglaries in 2019, 2024, and 2025.
The latest apprehension occurred approximately one month after Shmira released a video highlighting Perez’s release from prison. In that release, Shmira warned community members that the suspect could potentially resume his criminal activities. Following his release from custody, Perez allegedly resumed burglaries at multiple locations throughout Brooklyn South.
True to its ongoing commitment to neighborhood protection, Shmira’s investigative personnel mobilized to track Perez down once more, coordinating directly with the NYPD 66th Precinct Conditions Team to bring him into custody.
